If you love lazy lake days, sandbar hangouts, and cruising with family and friends, you’ll feel right at home with Greg and the Pontoon Life community. What started as a way to share his family’s boating adventures has grown into a space where pontoon lovers can connect, share their passion, and support the waterways they love.
We caught up with Greg to hear how it all got started, why giving back is so important to him, and what a perfect day on the lake looks like (spoiler: it involves hard seltzers and a dockside meal).
Q: How did Pontoon Life get started, and what inspired you to launch it?
A: Our journey into the pontoon lifestyle began in 2017 when we purchased our first pontoon boat. We quickly discovered how much we loved spending time on the water—it became more than a hobby; it became a way of life. Wanting to connect with like-minded enthusiasts, I searched for an online community where pontoon owners could share their experiences, stories, and passion for boating. When I couldn’t find anything that truly resonated, I decided to create one myself.
In 2019, I launched the Pontoon Life Instagram page as a small passion project. What started as a simple platform with just a few hundred followers has grown into a thriving community of pontoon lovers from across the country. We’ve shared our own boating adventures while spotlighting the stories and experiences of fellow pontooners. The response has been incredible, and the support from the community continues to inspire us as we grow. Pontoon Life is more than a social page—it’s a celebration of life on the water.
Q: I heard you donate a portion of sales to waterway preservation- is that true and why is that cause close to your heart?
A: It’s important to us that Pontoon Life represents more than just a lifestyle—it reflects a commitment to preserving the waterways we all enjoy. A portion of our merchandise sales is donated to organizations dedicated to protecting and maintaining the health of our lakes, rivers, and coastal environments.
With over 40 years of boating experience, I’ve had the privilege of spending countless hours on the water, appreciating God’s creation and making unforgettable memories with my family. When we launched our merchandise line, I knew we had an opportunity—and a responsibility—to give back.
We’ve chosen to support a select group of organizations that work tirelessly to safeguard our waterways from threats such as bacterial contamination and environmental degradation. These challenges grow more serious each year, and we’re proud to contribute to the efforts that help ensure future generations can experience the same joy and freedom on the water that we have.
Q: What made you interested in partnering with Argo?
A: I first heard about Argo from a fellow boater and friend who frequently travels between his home in Ware, Massachusetts and Nantucket. As boating enthusiasts, we often exchange ideas and insights, and during one of our conversations, he mentioned that he relies on Argo for his navigation.
Intrigued, I looked into the company and reached out to Captain Jeff to learn more about the platform and the vision behind it. That initial conversation sparked a series of discussions, which eventually led us to explore a potential partnership—and that brings us to today.
Q: What’s your favorite feature in the Argo app? How do you think it helps fellow pontooners?
A: One of my favorite features of the Argo app is the ability it gives marinas and boating clubs to take ownership of their presence on the platform. They can easily claim and manage their listing—highlighting who they are, what services they offer, and even promoting events or updates happening at their location. Best of all, it’s completely free to use.
For pontooners, Argo is a game-changer. Whether you’re navigating the intricate canals of Florida, exploring the Lake of the Ozarks, or tackling the rocky terrain of Lake Winnipesaukee, Argo provides accurate, intuitive navigation to make your time on the water safer and more enjoyable. What really sets Argo apart, though, is its social element. Unlike traditional navigation apps, Argo lets you connect with other boaters in your area—making it easy to discover new destinations, share experiences, and build community on the water.
No other navigation app offers that kind of connection.
Q: What does a perfect day on the water look like for you?
A: For me, the perfect day on the lake always starts with who I’m with—my wife and our two boys. They’re the reason we’re out there, and the memories we’ve created together on the water are truly unforgettable.
Our boat has become our happy place—a space where we can unwind, laugh, and simply enjoy each other’s company. Sure, a little tubing and sandbar time only adds to the fun, but it’s sharing those moments with them that makes it all perfect.
Just for fun – Lighting Round:
- Favorite local Waterway? Lake Winnipesaukee and I have to throw in Newfound Lake as well.
- Beer, seltzer, Soda or….? My boat drink, hard seltzers and Arnold Palmers
- Dockside dinner or onboard BBQ? Dockside dining for sure! Shout out to the Naswa Resort up in Weirs Beach, NH
